Patient Rules

  • Under the law, as a registered cardholder, you may grow your marijuana for yourself, or name a marijuana provider to grow it for you. You cannot do both.

  • If you want to grow your own medicine and you do not own your own property, you will be required to submit a signed and notarized permission slip from your landlord with your patient packet.

  • Patients who grow their own medicine are allowed to have 4 mature plants, (considered any plant over 12 inches) and 12 seedlings.

  • You are allowed to possess up to one ounce of medicine at a time.
  • Your provider may only sell you up to one ounce of marijuana at a time.

  • You may only name one provider to purchase medicine from.

  • Your provider can legally sell you medicine only after your registry card has been received.
  • You may change providers by submitting a Change Request Form to the state, signed and submitted by your new provider. (There is no fee to change providers).

  • You may not take your medicine out of the state.

  •   It is illegal drive while under the influence of marijuana or use while driving. (If you travel by car with your medicine, it is a good idea to keep it in the trunk).
  • You may not use in any public spaces.

  • You may not divert your medicine to others.

  •  Keep your registry card in your possession.

  • Report address changes to the department within 10 days.
  • Your card must be renewed annually, before the expiration date, to remain in good standing. (We suggest making an appointment for renewal 30-45 days before your card expires
